[Paleo, Keto, Whole30] Taco Seasoning

Whether you’re keto, paleo, whole30 or just forgot to pick up the seasoning packet. This quick seasoning is perfect for the taco lover that likes to whip up a quick tasty dinner on a work night. You’ll also be able to pronounce and likely already have everything that’s in it! Ditch the packet and try this one!

Ingredients you’ll need: Many recipes = many ingredients. Cooking should be fun and not stressful or confusing. Contrary to my mom’s beliefs, EVERY ingredient isn’t always needed. Additionally, not always does it have to be that specific thing to be delicious. Substitutions and alternatives will be shared here in addition to original recipe.

For 1lb of ground meat:

- 1 ½ teaspoons chili powder

- ½ teaspoon ground cumin

- ½ teaspoon garlic powder

- ¼ teaspoon onion powder

- ¼ teaspoon salt

- paprika to taste

Notes:

* I use smoked paprika for a smoky touch.

* My to taste is a "pinch" and that is a literal pinch of the spice and into the mix.

Prep.

No prep really - grab those spices and some measuring spoons!

Create.

Mix the ingredients in a small bowl with a spoon to combine well.

To turn it into taco meat:

Heat a sauce pan to medium heat and brown the ground meat (beef, chicken, turkey, or pork - whatever you’re feeling. I’ve even done shrimp this way!) Once the 1 lb of ground meat is browned, drain off the excess fat and add the seasoning mixture with about a cup of water or little less. Stir in well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and allow it to simmer for about five minutes until the liquid reduces and thickens. Remove from heat and serve with the best toppings!

That’s what I’m TACO ‘bout!
